as rectangle as my sareke can be hahaha, her persistence of diy tie dye (inspired by nick trapasso and my pair of chukka lows) finally paid off today! we headed to spotlight to get the necessary stuff. the part where we couldnt exactly find the soda ash and urea was a hassle.

got the dyes and cold dye fix for abt $18 which we thought, was rather steep because the powder portion was really small. bought a normal white cotton t-shirt as well. all excited, we went straightaway to baby's place without wasting anymore time. enthusiasm lah nak katekan!
the preparing part was nothing but complexity. seriously, it is really tough when you try to figure out how much is 375g of common salt without a weighing scale thingy so we had no choice but to rely on our gay gut feeling. hopefully what we estimated was close enough...
halfway, baby got irritated cos i accidentally stained the shirt with a little dye, nearly spilled all the salt onto the floor, forever staining myself with dye even though i had rubber gloves on, panicked at the wrong time and such so she went out and randomly took a photo of nenek. bloody random right?! crazy girl. but she came back to help :-)

(hello nenek thank you for the food and your sportingness haha)
anyway we both didn't manage to snap pictures in between the whole entire process cos we were super on and was super engrossed with the swirling of the shirt, fastening the rubber bandies, making the shirt into a flower shape and applying the dyes. kecoh habes but fun giler and this was what we both created in one and a half hours of fun, love, effort, patience, perseverance and of cos... determination!

i don't deny that i'm not a pro in diy shit. i'm basically a clumsy person and never really gave two hoots about art & craft but those two words have a whole new meaning to them. i learnt that so long there's an interest... a little effort really, surprisingly, goes a very long way. hopefully in the next 24 hours, the shirt will absorb all the colours well and good. the hardest part of tie-dying is obviously waiting so all the best to my first great diy experiment together with sha!

keep it safe under your bed k? let's unravel the mystery when the time comes! thank you for this opportunity baby, thank you for today! everyone should try tie dye cos it is super duper uber fun. trust me, it is not as messy and difficult as you think it is :-)
